Jack Cuddihy
Jack started his career as a financial advisor in 1989 and since that time has managed clients’ money during some of the most volatile bull and bear markets in history. He has worked in the financial industry during the recession and prosperity of the 1990’s, the Dot.com bubble of the 2000’s and most recently the 2020 Coronavirus Crash. A Canisius College graduate, He also holds the Series 7,9,63, 65 through LPL Financial and Life license.
Jack has worked in Western New York his entire career and for the last 15 years has worked in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus County regions. While working at HSBC bank, Jack and Rick became partners. When HSBC sold branches in 2012, they founded Andersen Cuddihy Inc with the idea that there was a better way to help people move to and through retirement. With that in mind, Andersen Cuddihy has been helping clients for more than a decade.
A partnership with Community Bank developed in 2013 where, in addition to their private practice, Andersen Cuddihy will work with bank clients. While retirement planning remains at the forefront of the practice, estate planning, investment strategies, and income generation are also a large part of his responsibilities. Jack has always considered his strength to be taking the time to clearly understand a client’s needs and to communicate the recommended investment strategy in a way that can be easily understood. It is this client centered approach that stands at the heart of Andersen Cuddihy.
Jack and his wife Margaret are the proud parents of three sons all in their 20’s. Joe, Dan and Patrick are college graduates, and all competed in college lacrosse. Joe and Dan live and work in WNY, while Patrick is pursuing an advanced degree in Ohio. Jack is currently on the Eden CSD school board and has volunteered time and held leadership positions in a variety of boards in Eden NY. He enjoys an assortment of hobbies but finds the most joy in spending time with family.
Rick Andersen CRPC ®
Originally from Lakewood, NY, Rick earned both his B.A. and M.A. in History and Social Studies from SUNY Fredonia. A former high school history teacher and soccer coach at Westfield Academy, he started his career as a financial advisor at Waddell & Reed in 2006. In 2009, Rick accepted the position of ‘Premier Relationship Manager’ at HSBC bank, where he worked in the Jamestown, Gowanda, Westfield, and Du-nkirk/Fredonia markets. His role was to be the visible wealth management expert in each branch, and to work collaboratively with the financial advisor and other branch staff to recognize, develop, and deliver high quality investment strategies and retirement planning solutions to customers of the bank.
In 2012, Rick and business partner Jack Cuddihy formed Andersen Cuddihy, Inc. Rick sincerely believes in taking a holistic approach to wealth management and financial planning and therefore spends a considerable amount of time attempting to understand the unique needs of each client well before any recommendations are considered. He is proud of the deep and long-lasting relationships formed with his clients. In 2019, Rick earned the ‘Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor’ designation from The College for Financial Planning. Rick holds Series 7, Series 66 through LPL Financial, and New York State Life Insurance Licenses.
Rick lives in East Aurora, NY and is married to Tricia. They are the proud 'owners' of a successful blended family. Rick's daughter, Kailah, is a Registered Nurse in the ICU at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, and his son Daniel is an Airman 1st Class Intelligence Analyst stationed in Ramstein AFB, Germany. Tricia's oldest, Sofia, studies Psychology at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, and Leah and Nick are accomplished students at Iroquois Central High School. Rick is passionate about physical fitness and backpacking. He has backpacked thousands of miles in the wilderness, climbing mountains in the high peaks region of the Adirondacks, as well dozens of mountains in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Tennessee. In 2021, he successfully solo thru-hiked the 150 mile Northville-Placid Trail. He is an avid reader, life-long learner, and enjoys spending time with his kids and traveling with his wife.
Angie Thomas
Angie has over 20 years of customer service and managerial experience within the retail and foodservice industries. Her focus has always been on customer service and customer relations along with attention to detail and multitasking. Her sense of empathy, organization, calm demeanor, and great work ethic have been the pillars of strength in her career. After receiving her certification in wedding planning in 2008, Angie worked with several hundred bridal couples. During this time, she assisted couples through the ins and outs of wedding planning including detailed decisions, calming nerves, and executing perfect events.
While Angie was looking for a career change, she had a conversation with her mom, Sharon, who at the time was the Office Manager at Andersen Cuddihy and was looking towards retirement. In January of 2022 Angie joined Andersen Cuddihy as their full time Office Manager. Her first six months of training were with Sharon. Both ladies appreciated the mother-daughter training time they had together! As Office Manager, Angie runs the appointment calendar and is the primary point of contact for all clients. Also, her daily operations include creating new accounts, processing contributions and distributions, and ensuring that all requests are in good order and consistent with clients’ wishes. She also keeps the company on track for projects and company goals. Angie’s care for others has paired well with how the Andersen Cuddihy team cares for their clients.
Angie resides in Hamburg with her husband Brad and their two young sons, Logan and Lincoln. Their boys keep them busy! When possible, she likes to travel and be with friends and family. She’s looking forward to more family vacations in the coming years.
Lorie Runge
Lorie has over 10 years of corporate finance experience. She spent her time working with major food brands providing analysis, budgeting, and forecasting. Lorie made the switch from the corporate world because she wanted to start working directly with individuals to help them meet their financial goals. She is our Client Relationship Manager who helps with financial planning, scheduling annual reviews, and special projects. She is fully licensed and will transition to a financial advisor role over the course of 2023.
Lorie has her bachelor’s degree from Binghamton University in finance and consulting. She has a Project Management Certification from Cornell University. She completed her securities licensing in 2022 including her SIE, Series 7, and Series 66 held through LPL Financial. In addition to her securities licenses, she obtained her NYS insurance license as well in 2022.
Lorie grew up in Sinclairville, NY and currently calls that home as she recently returned from living in Charlotte, NC for 10 years. Lorie enjoys traveling, being outside and spending time with friends and family. She has been to four NFL stadiums and has a goal to visit them all one day.
